How to Make a Donation to Elim Foundation from Your IRA
Are you over 70 1/2 and have an IRA? Then consider giving a QCD (Qualified Charitable Distribution) directly from your IRA. This donation, up to $105,000, will be counted as part of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RDM) but will be exempt from taxes even if you take the standard deduction.
The distribution must be made directly to the charitable organization from the IRA, not a 401K. You cannot receive the money into your account and then issue a check to the charitable organization. You will need a receipt from the charitable organization showing it came from an IRA. There are some other restrictions, so check with our financial advisor to be sure you qualify.
To make a QCD gift to Elim Foundation:
1. Have your IRA custodian make out a check to "Elim Lutheran Church Foundation"
2. Have them send this check to:
Elim Lutheran Church
20971 Olinda Trail N.
Scandia, MN 55073
3. Elim Lutheran Church Foundation will send you a letter acknowledging your gift from your IRA.
