Helping Area Homeless Families

St. Andrews's Family Shelter is a place where families from our own neighborhoods who are experiencing homelessness stay while receiving case management at the Community Resource Center at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.

Elim members have several upcoming opportunities in 2023 to serve at St. Andrew's Family Shelter in Hugo. We have committed to serving for the following weeks: January 22-28, 2023; June 4-10, 2023; and October 29-November 4, 2023. Below are links for volunteer sign-up for each of the weeks.
  • January 22-28, 2023
  • June 4-10, 2023
  • October 29-November 4, 2023
All volunteers at St. Andrew's Family Shelter are required to have a current background check [background checks are valid for three (3) years], submit a signed Confidentiality and Safety Agreement, and view this Safe Boundaries video prior to volunteering. Below are links to the Background Check Authorization and Release form and also the Confidentiality and Safety Agreement. Copies of the forms will also be available across from the church office.

If you have any questions please contact Loretta Thorson 651-383-7244 or Nancy Thorson 651-323-3846.
Thank you in advance for being a part of this ecumenical outreach ministry!
