What's Worship Like? All are welcome to be a part of our worship whether or not you're a life-long Lutheran, from another denomination, or have no faith background and are simply curious about Christ.
All ages are welcome! We love having the littlest ones with us in worship - including when they squawk and coo. If you have mobility concerns, please see our information on accessibility. Come as you are! There's no dress code at Elim; anything respectful, from jeans to a suit & tie, is perfectly fine. Participate as you feel comfortable. Some of us love to sing while others don't; some of us receive the spirit while speaking prayers and responses corporately, while others find God in the silence. Others raise hands while some keep them folded. Some shake hands, some fist-bump, some offer a smile and a nod. It's all good and we respect everyone's personal desires to worship however they feel they connect with God best. What is Elim's style of worship? Elim's worship style is mostly traditional in nature with occasional elements of contemporary worship. We savor sacred hymns but aren't afraid to try new songs. We receive so much meaning out of sacred liturgy yet acknowledge there's different ways to find God and express gratitude, thankfulness and praise. We welcome new participants and their gifts of worship! We are a gathering of brothers and sisters in Christ, offering up our best to the Lord in worship. When we gather in the sanctuary, we encourage folks to take time to center into that worship. The prelude (music before the service) helps us to set the mood and focus. If you are there with small children, don't sweat it! Your presence with your children is an act of faith and devotion in itself. Their babble, laughter, and cries are prayers indeed. |
